Information about myself.
1982 Born Guildford 2002-03 Foundation Art Course, Wimbledon School of Art 2003-06 Degree in Ceramics BA (Hons), University of Westminster 2006 ISCAEE Associate Member Artists Statement My ceramic work focuses on aspects of genetic engineering and modification. I currently use scanning electron microscopy images of the human internal structure, insects and parasitic organisms to create new ‘creatures’. These are intended to be visually unsettling. I want also to highlight human curiosity and intervention in the world of science due to a desire for knowledge and understanding and reflect on the characteristics of our relationships with nature and each other. My glass work is an exploration into colour and design, creating beautiful but usable pieces in a direct contrast to my ceramic work. pieces maintain a fluid look despite being solid.
